Drain Cleaning

Drain Cleaning in Washington, DC & Bethesda

I offer drain cleaning, and I'm happy to do it. But I'll be straight with you: it's not the most complicated thing I do, and a lot of clogs don't actually need a plumber. If yours does, I'm here. I'm licensed in DC, bonded, and insured, and I've done over a thousand jobs in this area over the past six years.

When to Call

When Drano Isn't Enough

Baking soda and vinegar works fine for a slow drain with a little buildup. So does a basic plunger. I'm not going to tell you to call me when a $5 fix will do the job.

But some symptoms mean the problem is deeper than a surface clog. A drain that backs up repeatedly after you've already cleared it. Gurgling sounds in other fixtures when you run water somewhere else. Slow drains in multiple spots at the same time. Water backing up into the tub when you flush the toilet. Those aren't clogs you can dissolve with a home remedy. That's a line problem, and it needs a camera and a real diagnosis.

I won't tell you it's worse than it is. If I put a camera down and the line is clear, I'll say so. If it needs cleaning, I'll clean it. If there's a break or a root intrusion, I'll show you on the screen before I recommend anything.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does drain cleaning cost in DC?
It depends on what I find. A straightforward snake job is on the lower end. If I need to run a camera first to diagnose a recurring issue, that adds to the cost. I'll tell you what I'm seeing and what it'll take before I do anything. No surprise charges after the fact.

Can I unclog my drain myself with baking soda and vinegar?
Sometimes, yes. If it's a single slow drain and you've never had the problem before, try the basics first. Plunger, baking soda, boiling water. If that clears it and it stays clear, you're done. If it comes back, or if you're dealing with multiple drains at once, call me.

How do I know if I need drain cleaning or a sewer line repair?
The symptoms overlap, which is why I use a camera. If multiple drains are slow, if you're seeing sewage backup, or if you've had the same drain cleaned more than once in a year and it keeps coming back, there's a good chance the issue is in the main line. A camera inspection takes the guesswork out of it. I'll show you what's actually in the pipe.
